Lions' charity Swimarathon raises £7,400
Henley Standard

More than 230 swimmers raised £7,400 at Henley Lions Club's annual Swimarathon on Saturday.

The event at LA Fitness in Newtown Road, Henley, was opened by Standard columnist Angie Best, patron of the Headway brain injury charity.

Particpants came from schools including Shiplake and Nettlebed primaryies, Trinity, St Mary's and Rupert House primaries in Henley as well as Henley scouts and guides, Mencap, Headway, the Chiltern Resource Centre, Eyot Boat Club and the Standard.

The proceeds will be divided equally between the participants' chosen charities and the Lions' causes. The club will donate £2,000 to the Sue Ryder Car hospice at Nettlebed, which will be used to replace vital equipment.
